The Amarillo Globe-News reported Aug. 19 that recent rains over the Texas Panhandle have flooded the normally dry riverbed of the Canadian River, making a few country roads in the region impassable but helping to replenish the nearby reservoirs and restore some of the weather beaten crops.
“I heard it's really rolling—it's 5-6 feet deep in some places,” says TFB District 1 State Director Billy Bob Brown , a farmer and rancher from the community of Panhandle. “Considering the Canadian River is usually just a trickle, that's saying a lot.”
