McCulloch County Farm Bureau

The McCulloch County Farm Bureau is one of 209 organized county units in the Texas Farm Bureau, Texas' largest organization of farm and ranch families.

With 1,230 member families, the McCulloch County Farm Bureau is a strong voice for the interest of farmers and ranchers in Southwest Texas.

In the arid climate of McCulloch County, local farmers produce many crops. The county is among the state leaders in sheep and goat production, and beef cattle is an important crop as well. Cotton, feed grains and peanuts are also grown.

Wildlife and the leasing of hunting rights is another important agricultural specialty of McCulloch County producers. Large populations of deer and other wildlife can be found here. Local farmers and ranchers provide habitat and food for wildlife.

The county Farm Bureau has seven organized commodity committees to review issues and make policy recommendations to the state Farm Bureau organization and to local government. These are: Beef Cattle, Sheep and Goats, Cotton, Feed Grains, Hay and Forage, Peanuts and Wheat.

Membership in McCulloch County Farm Bureau gives local producers and other members the opportunity to develop policy and solutions to local, state and national problems. These policies, once adopted by the state and national organizations, become policy initiatives for the Farm Bureau lobbying effort.

Active in local youth development, the McCulloch County Farm Bureau supports local youth athletics, participates in the local junior livestock show, and sends a local teacher to the Summer Agricultural Institute of the Texas Farm Bureau.
