District 4 director named

Kapavik.jpg (10466 bytes)Joe F. Kapavik of Lancaster was elected to fill the District 4 slot on the Texas Farm Bureau board of directors left vacant by new TFB President Donald Patman. The election took place recently during the Leadership Conference in College Station.

Kapavik, 67, runs a 1,250-acre wheat, corn, hay and cow/calf operation south of Dallas. His wife, Wilma Ann Kapavik, is a partner in the operation.

Kapavik has been an active TFB member since 1973, when he was appointed to the Dallas County FB board, holding virtually every office at the local level. He has also attended every state convention to the present as a voting delegate and several national conventions.

In 1993, he won the TFB Farmer Idea Exchange for his farm tool, which went on to be displayed at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Orlando, Fla.

The Kapaviks are active members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lancaster. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
