Funeral services for Lewis W. Menn of Runge, recipient of the 1993 Pioneer Award for exceptional service to Texas Farm Bureau and agriculture, were held March 20 at the First Baptist Church in Runge. Menn passed away the morning of March 17. Past and present directors of the Karnes County Farm Bureau served as honorary pallbearers. Interment was at the Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City. Menn was elected to the Karnes County Farm Bureau in 1964 and served as its president from 1968 to 1984. He later held the position of vice president of the Karnes County Farm Bureau. During his time with Farm Bureau, Menn attended seven American Farm Bureau Federation national conventions. He also hosted a weekly 15-minute radio program on local radio station KAML for more than 20 years. Menn ranched 1,000 acres in Karnes County and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Runge since 1939. Menn, 87, is survived by his wife, Evangeline, their four children, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Runge. |
