Deadline nears for
Foundation Scholarship

Graduating seniors planning to enter college in Fall 2001, whose families have been Texas Farm Bureau members since at least March 15, 1999, are eligible to apply for the organization's seventh annual Youth Foundation Scholarship.

A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year, renewable up to four years, will be awarded by May 2001, on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activity involvement and other considerations, including recommendations and financial need.

The 2001 scholarship recipient will be selected by a committee of college faculty and administrators from Baylor University.

The Youth Foundation, a charitable organization, was established by board action in response to the Blue Ribbon Goals Report for the purpose of awarding scholarships and agricultural grants for TFB youth.

The Foundation accepts donations of $25, $50, $100 or more, which are tax deductible, from individuals interested in furthering the youth mission. Bequests and insurance proceeds can also assist the Foundation. The number of students receiving financial help from the Foundation will vary according to the generosity and scope of members.

Applications for the scholarship must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2001 (see form below).

2001 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

In May 2001, the Texas Farm Bureau Youth Foundation will award one (1) scholarship to a student graduating from high school in Spring 2001 and entering college in Fall 2001, whose parent(s) have been members of Texas Farm Bureau since at least March 15, 1999. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the information requested on this application, including but not limited to high school grades/gpa, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, family financial need, and potential to succeed to post secondary educational goals.

Please include with this application the following materials:

3. A list of your extracurricular activities.
4. A biographical statement, including your plans for your college education and future career.
