Deadline nears for
Foundation Scholarship

Graduating seniors planning to enter college in Fall 2002, whose families have been Texas Farm Bureau members since at least March 15, 2000, are eligible to apply for the organization's seventh annual scholarship awarded by the Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation.

A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year, renewable up to four years, will be awarded by May 2002, on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activity involvement and other considerations, including recommendations and financial need.

The 2002 scholarship recipient will be selected by a committee of college faculty and administrators from Baylor University.

The Foundation, a charitable organization, was established by board action in response to the Blue Ribbon Goals Report and has, as one of its purposes, the awarding of scholarships and agricultural grants for TFB youth.

The Foundation accepts donations of $25, $50, $100 or more, which are tax deductible, from individuals interested in furthering the youth mission. Bequests and insurance proceeds can also assist the Foundation. The number of students receiving financial help from the Foundation will vary according to the generosity and scope of members.

Applications for the scholarship must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2002.

Applications may be sent to:

Youth Scholarship Coordinator, Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation, P.O. Box 2689, Waco, TX 76702-2689.
