Farm talk forum new
feature on TFB web site

Texas Farm Bureau members now have a new way to communicate with each other and the Waco office. The "Farm Talk Forum" is a new feature of the TFB Voice of Agriculture Web Site.

"Farm Talk will allow members to post messages for other Farm Bureau members to read and respond to," said Gene Hall, TFB Director of Information and Public Relations. "We have launched the forums with a general Farm Bureau category, but we hope to add more specific categories on commodities and issues."

The forum is not a "chat room" but a "bulletin board" where members may post messages to which other members may respond. Hall says chat rooms take up a lot of time, but Farm Talk will allow members to respond at their leisure.

The service is free to Texas Farm Bureau members and TFB staff will monitor the forums. Farm Talk can be accessed on the TFB web site at www.txfb.org/farmtalk/. There is also a link to the forum on the main page of the TFB site (www.txfb.org).

"The beauty of the Internet is its ability to bring people together with immediate and cost effective communication," Hall said. "In the forums, there can be discussions on issues or problems. It should help in policy development and policy implementation."

Hall said members will need to register to enter the forums, but that's a quick and easy-to-follow process. He said many members will make regular visits to the forums to ask and answer questions, and stay up to date on what's happening in Farm Bureau and with Farm Bureau people.
