Estate Planning seminars scheduled early next year

Texas Cooperative Extension is sponsoring four two-day seminars across the state in January and February, 2005. These seminars are designed to help families reduce their estate taxes and make effective estate planning decisions.

"The goal of our Farm and Ranch Estate Planning Seminars is to help families make wise estate planning decisions by providing a wealth of information on tax and estate planning matters," states Dr. Wayne A. Hayenga, Texas Cooperative Extension Economist-Management. "It is useful for married couples, spouses, potential estate executors, trustees and those who want to make estate settlement less burdensome for their loved ones."

In addition to discussing estate planning systems, tax savings possibilities will be discussed from corporations, partnerships and trusts when family members are involved in the business.

The two-day seminars are scheduled:

• Jan. 25-26, 2005, Robstown.

• Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2005, San Antonio.

• Feb. 3-4, 2005, Amarillo.

• Feb.14-15, 2005, Denton.

Hayenga is an attorney as well as an Extension economist. He works extensively with farmers, ranchers and family-owned firms in financial, business and estate tax planning.

The seminars are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Registration cost is $100 per person and includes printed materials, refreshments and lunch both days. For a brochure and registration information, email Sharon at s-wehring@tamu.edu or call (979) 845-2226.
