Texas Farm Bureau's
Photo Contest

Rules change now allows digital photos

Good news digital shutterbugs. A change in Texas Farm Bureau annual contest rules now allows you to electronically enter those digital photos via your computer.

"With the tremendous growth in popularity of digital cameras, we felt many of our amateur photographers were being left out of the contest," said Editor Mike Barnett. "So we changed the rules to where the electronic photo no longer needs to be printed, but can be sent direct to the Farm Bureau office by email. And of course, print photos will continue to be accepted."

There are some minimum requirements for digital entries. Set your digital camera to a minimum of 1024 X 768 pixels or higher. Anything lower than that pixel count will not be high enough for reproduction.

This year, four winners will be announced in the July editions of Texas Neighbors and Texas Agriculture.

First place will be awarded a $100 cash prize. Second place will receive $50. And two honorable mentions will receive $25 each.

As always, rural settings and rural lifestyles are preferred settings for entries.

To enter, follow these simple rules:

• Both digital (requirements previously explained) and print photos will be accepted.

•Both color and black-and-white photos will be considered but will compete against each other. Only one entry per person.

Include a brief description regarding the entry, plus the participant's name, address and telephone number in case additional information is needed.

• Make sure permission has been granted for use of the photo submitted.

• Rural settings are preferred.

Deadline for having photo entries in the Texas Farm Bureau office is Wednesday, June 1, 2005.

A stamped, self-addressed envelope needs to accompany your print photo entry if you want your photograph returned.

Digital entries should be emailed to photocontest@txfb.org.

Send print entries to Photo Contest, TFB Information & Public Relations Dept., P.O. Box 2689, Waco, TX 76702-2689.
