Photo entries due June 1

Clear weather, emerging wildflowers, and seasonal farming activities in rural Texas combine for abundant photo opportunities this spring—all in time for Texas Farm Bureau's annual photo contest. Photos of rural settings and lifestyles are preferred. Submit print photos through the U.S. mail or digital photos via your computer.

"There are some minimum requirements for digital entries," said Editor Mike Barnett. "Set your digital camera to a minimum of 1024 X 768 pixels or higher. Anything lower than that pixel count will not be high enough for reproduction."

Watch for the four winning photos/photographers in the July editions of Texas Neighbors and Texas Agriculture.

First place will be awarded a $100 cash prize. Second place will receive $50. And two honorable mentions will receive $25 each.

To enter, follow these simple rules:

• Both digital (requirements previously explained) and print photos will be accepted.

•Both color and black-and-white photos will be considered but will compete against each other. Only one entry per person.

• Include a brief description regarding the entry, plus the participant's name, address and telephone number in case additional information is needed.

• Make sure permission has been granted for use of the photo submitted.

• Rural settings are preferred.

Deadline for having photo entries in the Texas Farm Bureau office is Wednesday, June 1, 2005.

A stamped, self-addressed envelope needs to accompany your print photo entry if you want your photograph returned.

Digital entries should be emailed to photocontest@txfb.org.

Send print entries to Photo Contest, TFB Information & Public Relations Dept., P.O. Box 2689, Waco, TX 76702-2689.
