From managing new cotton genetics to animal identification, several topics will be of interest to producers attending the Stiles Farm Field Day scheduled June 21.
The Stiles Farm is located just east of Thrall on U.S. Highway 79. The free event will kick off with registration at 8 a.m.
"We're zeroing in on some topics of discussion that are on the minds of every producer," said Archie Abra-meit, farm manager. "We will have several demonstrations that I think a lot of folks will take an interest in. And, of course, we will have some exciting exhibits and in the field equipment demonstrations."
At 8:30 a.m., concurrent sessions begin. Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicator license holders attending the morning program will receive three continuing education units (private, commercial and non-commercial). Three certified crop advisor units will also be offered. Presentations on tillage options, cotton genetics and fertility, weed control updates and twin row corn and row spacing will also be held.
At noon, Stiles Farm Foundation scholarship presentations will be made and a barbecue lunch sponsored by the Taylor Chamber of Commerce provided.
At 1:30 p.m., concurrent sessions begin with equipment demonstrations and "Participation in Animal Identification in Texas: What, When and How," led by Dr. Larry Boleman, Extension program leader for beef cattle and Jason Cleere, Extension beef cattle specialist.
