Juggling responsibilities for three Central Texas counties—Erath, Comanche and Hamilton—Tri-County Agribusiness Association Executive Director July Danley communicates the message of agriculture. July's positive, upbeat approach is reflected in her daily contacts with farmers and ranchers, agribusinesses, media and the general public.

"Our challenge is to communicate the vital role that agriculture plays in the day-to-day life of everyone," July said. "Agriculture is the leading industry in our area and, of course, agriculture is important to all of us whether we're directly involved in it or not, because if we eat the food, if we wear clothes, we're impacted by agriculture. Being that agriculture is the biggest impact on the economy in this area, it's important that we support those producers and that we promote that fact to the rest of the community," she continued.

The Tri-County Agribusiness Association, a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors consisting of farmers, ranchers and agribusiness leaders, promotes agribusiness in the Central Texas counties through a variety of activities. July organizes educational and fun ag-related community events to get the message across about the vital role of the agricultural industry. Events include the annual DairyFest, a family-fun event celebrating the importance of the area's largest industry, and the Texas Ag Expo, which attracts more than 100 exhibitors who showcase their products and services to area dairymen, and other farmers and ranchers.

"This is definitely the biggest show we put on during the year. We're excited to provide this as a showcase for agricultural products and services. We also provide educational seminars to update producers on new technologies to help them run more efficient operations," July said.

The 29-year old Tarleton State University speech communications and MBA in management graduate has been in her role as executive director for five years. From her base in Stephenville, she creates marketing strategies and writes a monthly newsletter for the association's members. July also meets with local newspapers and radio stations on a regular basis and speaks before civic groups.

July believes growing up on a farm in New Mexico created a very strong work ethic.

"I think that growing up around a family that farmed and ranched helped me to understand what ag producers go through and appreciate their hard work," she said.
