Farm-City Week set

November 18-24, 2005, is National Farm-City Week, an annual observance sponsored by the National Farm- City Council. It is a seven-day period ending on Thanksgiving Day with a mission of strengthening the understanding of farm-city connections.

A truck driver, a rancher, a grocery store clerk, a logger, a futures broker and a biotechnologist all play an important role in making sure that Americans have access to a healthy and abundant supply of food, fiber and natural resources.

The National Farm-City Council, founded in 1955, is a non-profit organization dedicated to publicizing the partnership between farm families and urban residents. The Council is active in providing local organizations with educational programs and materials about agriculture.

Currently there are Farm-City organizations in 49 states which sponsor events to promote understanding and increase cooperation between rural and urban residents.
