Dairy conference set
April 19-20 in Arlington

Dairy industry consultants and producers from Texas and adjoining states will gather for the 2006 Mid-South Ruminant Nutrition Conference on April 19-20 at the Arlington Hilton at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

"With a new cheese plant in Clovis, N.M., and another one coming to Dalhart, milk components are a bigger issue today than ever, which makes the information presented at this year's conference very timely," said Dr. Ellen Jordan, Texas Cooperative Extension dairy specialist.

Seven experts from across the country will present information during the conference, including sessions on managing and maximizing corn silage quality; disease prevention; nutrition management; and the latest dairy research efforts from Texas A&M University.

The deadline for advance registration is April 5. Early registration is $80. Registrations received after April 6 are $95.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Arlington at a cost of $92 per night plus tax. Reservations must be made by March 28. Call (817) 640-3322.

A golf tournament will be held at the Riverside Golf Course in conjunction with the conference.

The tournament will benefit scholarships. Golf entries must be made by April 5.
