Thompson named to NCBA board

Texas Farm Bureau State Director Albert Thompson of Martinsville was named to the National Cattlemen's Beef Association board of directors last week.

As a Federation Division director for the board, Thompson will represent the Texas Beef Council and serve on the NCBA's International Markets Committee.

Thompson will participate in decisions determining the NCBA's strategic direction, setting program goals and approving budgets.

He will also be involved in matters relating to promotion, research, information and other activities of the association.

Beyond representing the Texas Beef Council, Thompson will represent the $80 billion beef industry in a national forum.

At Texas Farm Bureau, Thompson serves as state director for District 9. He was elected to the Texas Farm Bureau board of directors in December 2001, and elected by the board of directors as secretary-treasurer in December 2005. He has been an active leader in the Nacogdoches County Farm Bureau, serving as president and vice president.

Thompson owns a cow/calf operation and raises timber near Nacogdoches.
