Scholarship

Fill out an application

Houston County Farm Bureau's scholarship program is meant to extend educational opportunities for area youth and to promote Farm Bureau in the community.

The scholarship is to cover the cost of books or tools and equipment (trade school) not to exceed $500 per semester for a total of $1,000. If the scholarship is not used within one calendar year from the date awarded, the scholarship is forfeited. Student must remain a full time student (12 hours in the Fall/Spring semester or 6 hours during summer semesters) and maintain an overall and semester GPA of at least 2.0. Trade school students' schedules will be evaluated by the board to ensure students are following curriculum guidelines.

The scholarship will be paid to the student upon receipt for books or tools. The scholarship will be used for consecutive semesters (fall, spring) unless the student is physically unable to attend or otherwise excused at the discretion of the Houston County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. To receive the scholarship, the student must bring proper documentation of enrollment in an accredited college or university to the Houston County Farm Bureau office. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. Each semester the student must also provide a report on their grades.

In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, the student's parents must be Farm Bureau members. The applicant must: 1.) Be a qualified senior in Houston County, 2.) Be accepted in an accredited college, university or trade school.

The Houston County Farm Bureau Board of directors will appoint a committee to select the scholarship winners. Any student who qualifies is encouraged to apply.

The completed application and photo of the student must be in the Farm Bureau office by April 16, 2008. A representative of Houston County Farm Bureau will notify the selected students personally. The selected students will be asked to meet with the Houston County Farm Bureau Board of Directors at their May meeting at the Farm Bureau Office in Crockett.

If you have any questions or need further information on the scholarship program, contact the office at (936) 544-9611.
