County
Involvement and Programs
Firemen's SchoolGonzales County Farm Bureau recognizes and appreciates our volunteer fire departments. Each year, we sponsor a volunteer fireman to attend the Texas A&M Municipal Fire Training School.
Meeting RoomThe Gonzales County FB provides agricultural and other groups a place to hold their meetings. Many county Extension service programs, committee meetings, and 4-H meetings are held at the county Farm Bureau building. Contact the office secretary or county FB president for further information.
Ag Policy DevelopmentThe Gonzales County FB supports the grassroots concept of agricultural policy development. This is accomplished through our county Farm Bureau Policy Development Committee.
If you have concerns, ideas, etc., please address them to this committee or to one of the other board members. These may be presented for possible adoption at the annual Gonzales County Farm Bureau convention in October. If adopted, they will be forwarded to the state and/or national Farm Bureau.
Previous resolutions originating in Gonzales County included those opposing the construction of dams on the Guadalupe River and Sandies Creek, opposing any laws hindering hunting hogs with dogs, restoration of federal aid to rural hospitals, conservation of rural property rights, protection of agricultural and rural interests of underground water, and others aimed at protecting agricultural interests.
The Gonzales County Farm Bureau Board of Directors stays current on legislation
affecting agriculture and our rural areas through legislative seminars, commodity
conferences, leadership conferences and other contacts with our legislators.
Let
us know if you have
