Texas Farm Bureau state and county leaders will flock to Fort Worth Dec. 5-7 for the 76th annual meeting of the state’s largest general farm organization.
Registration form the annual convention begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in Ballroom C of the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Several activities are planned for the annual event, which concludes with the member adoption of organization policy, which directs Farm Bureau’s activities over the coming year.
It also features a number of contests and activities, with thousands of dollars in scholarships handed out over the three-day event. Some of those include:
• Free Enterprise Speech Contest—Competition in this speech contest is the culmination of months of hard work for these 13 Texas teens that began at the summer Youth Leadership Conference in San Angelo. The winner will take home a $4,000 scholarship.
• Talent Find Contest—Thirteen of Texas’ top teen talents go head to head in this annual variety show, competing for bragging rights and $2,000 in scholarships.
• Miss TFB Contest—Now in its 50th year, one young lady will walk away with the Miss TFB crown and $2,000 in scholarships, as well as a host of other prizes.
• Discussion Meet Finals—Six of Texas’ top young agricultural professionals square off in a round-table setting that tests their persuasive speaking skills, leadership abilities and ability to interact with a group.
• Pioneer Recognition—Honoring individuals who have helped make the organization what it is today, 14 members are recognized for their contributions and added to Farm Bureau’s Hall of Fame.
